Webshop quality mark
The Webshop Keurmerk was established when the Consumers' Association announced that it would end its activities with regard to the Webtrader logo. Many online stores that were allowed to use the Webtrader logo on their website after the extensive screening procedure, then joined the Webshop Keurmerk. The Webshop Keurmerk conditions are therefore based on the conditions previously used by the Consumers' Association.
In order to guarantee independence, management has been placed in the Stichting Webshop Keurmerk. The shops affiliated with the Stichting Webshop Keurmerk are required to comply with European and Dutch laws and regulations and the Keurmerk code. The Stichting Webshop Keurmerk also aims to increase consumer confidence in internet purchases, by telephone, catalogue and post.
As of July 1, 2012, we are affiliated with the Stichting Geschillen Commissie with our own Geschillencommissie Webshop, completely independent of the Stichting Webshop Keurmerk. The affiliation took place in consultation with the Consumentenbond and the SGC. The registrations and any complaints are handled by lawyers. In addition, shops are periodically checked.
The Foundation also offers a compliance guarantee with regard to rulings by the SGC as of 1 July 2012. But please note: If there is a single case of non-compliance or non-repayment as a result of a suspension of payments, cessation of activities or bankruptcy, the guarantee does not apply. This only concerns disputes about the execution of an agreement and after a ruling by the SGC that is not complied with by the web shop. If the web shop is bankrupt or has ceased its activities, the step to the SGC cannot be taken. The Foundation also cannot offer a guarantee for web shops that unexpectedly cease their activities and are unreachable. We have confidence in the shops that are listed based on research, but cannot vouch for a shop that suddenly decides not to deliver. We therefore advise consumers who have doubts about a web shop to pay as much as possible by credit card, Paypal, cash on delivery or otherwise, and to be careful with direct transfers and/or paying with iDEAL, as banks refuse to help consumers if fraud occurs.
On 17 April 2008, Webshop Keurmerk underwent the quality mark test of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The test was carried out by the Accreditation Council.
This test examines whether a quality mark and the way in which the quality mark is awarded are reliable. The reliability is expressed with a report grade, on a scale of 1 to 10.
The Webshop Quality Mark has been awarded a 10.
